JAZZ@MBCo : Lexie Lakmann

Lexie Lakmann is somewhat of a lexicon . . . already singing in all sorts of genres at the ripe old age of nothing! As part of our commitment to incubating talent, we’re excited to showcase this rising star. Miss Lakmann is a choral education and jazz studies major at UW-Stevens Point. But don’t let the “student” moniker fool you . . . she swings like a seasoned “Sassy." Born in La Crosse of a musical family, she's sung with the La Crosse Concert Band and performed various other gigs (under parental supervision, of course). This bright young lady has been featured with Meade St. Collective in Appleton, Central Wisconsin Jazz Ensemble at the Riverfront Jazz Festival, and she's the lead singer in the Wausau-based cover band, The 3’s & 7’s. Don’t miss a rare opportunity to catch this comet as she passes through our firmament. Suggested Cover: $10.

From Broadway to 4th Street (as in downtown Mosinee)?!? A crooner since childhood, Mr. King was first seen first on Broadway in "Beauty & The Beast," then "A Thousand Clowns” (opposite Tom Selleck), and "Hollywood Arms” all before age 12. Nicolas has grown-up to be one very busy jazz and cabaret singer. He's toured with Liza Minnelli (yes, thee LIZA). He’s been a guest performer on the “Today" show, "The Jerry Lewis Telethon,” "The View," "Sally Jesse Raphael," and twice on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno. Many times over he's graced the stage at New York’s famed Birdland, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Feinstein’s, and the upper-east-side-chic Café Boulud at The Surrey Hotel. He’s been the recipient of The Mabel Mercer Foundation’s coveted ‘Julie Wilson Award,' the 2012 BISTRO Award for Outstanding Performer of the Year, the 2015 AMG Heritage Award for Artist of the Year, and winner of the 2019 Legends Award. And if that weren’t enough, he received Grammy consideration for his latest album, “On Another Note” in collaboration with the legendary Mike Renzi. So, how does this guy manage a stop-off in Mosinee? You’ll just have to wait to find out. Suggested Cover: $10
