The Sara Rifleman Trio brings their fresh swinging sound back to MBCo…by (very) popular demand! Ms. Rifleman presents a varied repertoire of original tunes, inventive arrangements, and an offbeat approach to jazz and pop standards. The members' performance history and musical sensitivity creates a variety in the music that makes for an exceptional listening experience. With a masters in jazz performance, Sara has criss-crossed the state any number of times…with R&B and swing bands, The Wisconsin Jazz Orchestra and of course her trio. Saxophonists John Greiner and Tom Washatka duke it out. Get ready for the jazz-giant sounds of Coltrane, Ellington, Monk, Davis and more! Mr. Greiner was a member of the United States Air Force Band and is currently an instructor of jazz studies at The Wausau Conservatory of Music. He has traveled the world over, performing with such groups as The Newport Jazz Orchestra and The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. And shared the stage with legends Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Aretha Franklin and many more. Saxophonist, composer, and arranger Tom Washatka has been performing, producing and recording music for 4 decades. He was considered for a Grammy in 2016 for his arrangement of Dylan’s “Boots of Spanish Leather,” from Janet Planet’s recording, “Just Like A Woman.” These boys join forces with Cully Swanson on bass, and Chris Wills on drums. JAZZ@MBCo : Mathew Buchman Quartet

Mr. Buchman is a very busy guy! Professor Matt is the Director of Jazz Studies at UW-Stevens Point; a prolific arranger and composer of works for jazz ensemble, chorale, and orchestra; the Artistic Director for UWSP and Riverfront Jazz Festivals; AND he’s been chasing a doctorate in composition at UW-Madison. Matt received his Masters in Improvisation from the University of Michigan and his Bachelors in composition and theory from Lawrence University. Whew! In addition to leading his own trio, he has worked with Karrin Allyson, Karl Berger, Tom Gullion, Randy Sabien, Michael Formanek and more. Buchman has toured the U.S., Canada and Europe and twice performed on Wisconsin Public Radio’s "Live from the Elvehjem.” Tonight he takes a little break to kick-back in Mosinee! JAZZ@MBCo : Timothy Buchholz Quintet

Jazz singer, director, educator, and arranger. Tim is a professor of Music at University of Wisconsin Stevens Point – Wausau. And a graduate of the University of Miami in the Studio Music and Jazz Department where he earned his doctorate in Jazz Vocal Performance. Tim has performed at Carnegie Hall, New York City’s Lincoln Center, and has toured internationally.  He’s shared the stage with many notable jazz artists including Bobby McFerrin, Tierney Sutton, Janis Siegel, Patty Austin, Fred Hersch, and Dave Grusin. Tim was been named “Best Collegiate Jazz Singer” and “Best Collegiate Jazz Arranger” by Downbeat magazine in 2006 and 2007, respectively. Tonight, Professor Buchholz swings arrangements from his recent album release, “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love.” Listen up, class…there may be extra credit! Suggested Cover: $10
